Frequently asked questions about Buchführungsheld

Here you'll find answers about our pricing, features, and using the App.

How do I authenticate with the API?

You create a personal API key in your account and send it as a bearer token in the Authorization header of every request. The key can be rotated or revoked anytime – so you keep full control over your integration.

What does using the API cost?

API access is included in your plan and costs you 0 €/month as an add-on. You only pay your regular bookkeeping plan – the programmatic integration comes at no extra charge.

When is the MCP server coming?

Our MCP server (Model Context Protocol) is currently in development and coming soon. It lets AI assistants like Claude access your bookkeeping directly and securely – submit receipts, query bookings or pull reports, all without a custom integration layer.

Can I export DATEV data?

Yes. All booked data is available to you as a DATEV and CSV export – retrievable via API or as a download. That way your tax advisor and your existing systems stay cleanly connected.

Is the processing GDPR-compliant?

Yes. The processing is GDPR- and GoBD-compliant, hosted in an ISO 27001-certified data center in Germany. On request, we'll conclude a data processing agreement (DPA) with you.

Who books in the end – software or a person?

Behind the API are real bookkeepers. Your receipts and revenue are checked and correctly posted by professionals – not just AI automation. You get clean bookkeeping without having to build bookkeeping logic yourself.
